Interactions Between Humans and the Environment
Many societies have taken advantage of their environments, not thinking of the consequences of their actions. Even many modern societies have succumb to this. Jared Diamon even wrote a book Collapse it.
| Examples
The best example of humans taking advantage of the environment would be Easter Island. Their society depleted their resources. They continually used the forest to move volcanic stones for moai, create houses, and canoes. Once the forests were gone, there were no more canoes to catch food and the soil had been degraded of nutrients, meaning no more vegetation and the springs soon disappeared. Within a few generations, the islands population had disappeared.
