Vanuatu is one of many regions in Melanesia. It is an archipelago and together makes up a lot of islands. Vanuatu is growing in population & yet the fresh water is becoming very scarce. Many watersheds are being degraded and ruined. Their resources for agriculture rely on hunting, grazing, & fishing, ninety percent of the population consumes fish so learning to fish is crucial to the culture.
The main climate is sub- tropical, they have NINE months of warm- hot rainy weather. I imagine that it is really humid. Vanuatu has long rainy sessions, with a lot of rainfall almost every single month. The wettest & hottest months are December through April the exact opposite of ours.
On a lighter note tourism brings in a lot, from exchange to all the organized vacation destinations. Many people go there to scuba dive on the fascinating reefs & just relax. Vanuatu has also been and continuing to be the sight of a couple known TV shows & movies, such as the ninth season of survivor & two years later the host of celebrity survivor.
Vanuatu has a very different culture in which there is strong diversity through regional differences. In the north, wealth is established by how much one can give away. People that have rounded tusks are considered a symbol of wealth. In the south, there is a system involving grants of title is how they work (such as privileges). Most of the villages contain male & female parts to it. The males have a clubhouse where they can drink kava. Here is some more interesting facts on Vanuatu:
